“The Fairweather Family Fun-der Dome” was created in December 2023 on the occasion of the retirement of a legendary figure within the Pittsburgh drag community, Scarlet Fairweather. Fairweather, pictured with her biological mother and father, has become a pillar in the Pittsburgh drag society over her 15+ years in service. Often lotted as the mother of Pittsburgh Drag, Fairweather cemented her importance within the Pittsburgh drag scene when she became the title holder for the Blue Moon Pageant, an annual pageant held at the Blue Moon Bar, which recognizes a prominent community leader and gives them a platform to share their message. This was especially important for Fairweather as she was crowned in January 2020, causing her to reign during the global COVID-19 pandemic and become the most extended title holder in the pageant in its history during her reign and long after, Fairweather used her platform to advocate for the showcasing of all types of drag, not just the traditional, feminine Drag scene on popular television.

The “Fun-derdome” takes these principles, which she held dear, and builds on her legacy as one of the city’s few drag open stage hosts by creating a platform for 18+ entertainers to compete for a cash prize similar to the other open stages throughout the city. In addition, entertainers are judged by a panel of veteran drag, entertainers, and queer artists, giving contestants the chance to receive written scores and feedback from the judges on how to improve their craft. Finally, after the show, contestants are allowed to speak with the judges to give comments or ask questions about the critiques they received, creating a learning environment throughout the entire event.
